Mesa County, Colorado

Mesa County is a county located in the western part of the U.S. state of Colorado. The administrative center of the county ( County Seat) is located in Grand Junction.

Geography

The County is part of the so-called Western Slopes of Colorado, a region in the west of the state. It is home to the Ute Indians. Interstate 70 leads coming through the County of Utah to Denver. The county is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Garfield County, Pitkin County, Gunnison County, Delta County, Montrose County and Grand County ( Utah).

History

The County was in 1883 removed from the Gunnison County. The name derives from the Spanish mesa (German panel). He comes from the numerous mesas around her.
