Sedgwick County (Colorado)

The Sedgwick County is an administrative unit ( county ) in the extreme northeast of the U.S. state of Colorado. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Julesburg.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme northeastern Colorado. It is counter-clockwise bordered by the counties Logan ( West) and Philips. Due to its exposed location, it borders the U.S. state of Nebraska. To the north is the Deuel County, Keith County in the northeast and east of Perkins County.

History

1889 County from the Logan County was formed. The name of the County is derived from the former Fort Sedgwick, as the patron saint of the American General John Sedgwick (1813 - 1864) has.
