Deuel County (Nebraska)

The Deuel County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Chappell, which was named after John Chappell, president of a railroad company.

Geography

The County is located in western Nebraska, on the south by Colorado and has an area of 1142 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The Deuel County was formed in 1889 from parts of the former Cheyenne County. It was named after Harry Porter Deuel (1836-1914), a railway manager from Omaha.

According to the census in 2010 living in Deuel County 1,941 people in 925 households. The population density was 1.7 people per square kilometer. In the 925 households lived statistically 2.14 per person.
