Boone County (Nebraska)

The Boone County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Albion, which was named after the city in Albion Michigan.

The County is located in east-central Nebraska, is located in the north ertwa 90km from South Dakota and has an area of 1780 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The Boone County in 1871 as a designated free - but in reality populated by Indians - formed territory. It was named after Daniel Boone (1734-1820), a noted pioneer and hunter from Kentucky.

2000 2010

According to the census of 2000, there were 6,259 people in Boone County. Of these, 112 people were living in collective centers, the other residents living in 2,454 households and 1,700 families. The population density was 4 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 99.3 percent white and 0.4 percent from other ethnic groups. 0.3 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.9 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, were members of the various groups mentioned.

Of the 2,454 households out of which 33.9 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 60.8 percent were married couples living together, 5.5 percent were single mothers, 30.7 percent were non-families, 29.1 percent of all households and 16.5 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size is 3.11 people.

The median income for a household was $ 31,444, and the median income for a family was $ 38,226. Males had a median income of $ 26,779, women $ 18,438. The per-capita income was $ 15,831. 8.3 percent of families and 10.4 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. This included 11.7 percent of children and adolescents under 18 years and 11.6 percent of the population aged 65 years.
