Dixon County, Nebraska
The Dixon County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ponca, which was named after the American Tribe Ponca.
Geography
The County is located in the extreme northeastern Nebraska and is bordered to the east and north to South Dakota, from which it is separated by the Missouri River. It has an area of 1234 square kilometers, of which 16 square kilometers are water surface. At the Dixon County borders the following counties:
History
The Dixon County in 1856 from parts of the former Blackbird County, Izard County and as well as formed as a free- designated country, so former Indian land. It was named after the family Dixon, the first white settlers in the area.
