Platte County (Nebraska)

Platte County is a county located in the state of Nebraska in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Columbus, which was named after the city of Columbus in Ohio.

Geography

The County is located in east-central Nebraska and has an area of ​​1785 square kilometers, of which 29 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Colfax County, Butler County, Polk County, Merrick County, Nance County, Boone County, Madison County and Stanton County.

History

Platte County was formed in 1856. It was named after the Platte River.
