McPherson County (Nebraska)
McPherson County is a county located in the state of Nebraska in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Tryon.
Geography
The County lies to the west of the geographic center of Nebraska and has an area of 2227 square kilometers, of which 3 square miles is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hooker County, Thomas County, Logan County, Lincoln County, Keith County and Arthur County.
History
McPherson County was formed in 1887. It was named after Union General James B. McPherson.

According to the census in 2000 lived in McPherson County 533 people in 202 households and 157 families. The population density was 0.24 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 97.94 percent White, 0.38 percent Asian, and 1.69 percent from other races. 1.50 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 202 households out of which 34.2 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 73.8 percent were married couples living together, 3.5 percent were single mothers, 21.8 percent were non-families, 19.8 percent of all households and 14.4 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.01.
Based on the county the population was spread from 27.6 percent population under 18 years, 5.3 percent between 18 and 24 years, 26.1 percent between 25 and 44 years, 22.9 percent between 45 and 64 years and 18.2 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 99.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.9 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 25,750, and the median income for a family was $ 31,250. Males had a median income of $ 25,192, women $ 13,393. The per capita income was $ 13,055. 16.2 percent of the population and 14.0 percent of families are below the poverty line .. Of these, 21.7 percent of children and adolescents under age 18 and 17.3 percent of those 65 years.
