Jefferson County (Nebraska)

Jefferson County is a county located in the state of Nebraska in the United States. The seat of the county government ( County Seat) is in Fairbury, which was named after the town of Fairbury, Illinois.

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Nebraska, on the south by the state of Kansas and has an area of ​​1491 square kilometers, of which 6 square kilometers is water area. It borders in Nebraska clockwise to the following counties: Saline County, Gage County, Thayer County, and Fillmore County.

History

Jefferson County was formed in 1856. It was named after Thomas Jefferson.
