Ungureni, Botoșani

Ungureni is a municipality in the district of Botosani in Romania. It consists of the twelve villages Borzesti, Călugăreni, Călugărenii Noi, Durneşti, Epureni, Mihai Viteazu, Mandresti, Plopenii Mari, Plopenii Mici, Tăuteşti, Ungureni and Vicoleni.

Ungureni is one of the largest municipalities in the district of Botosani and is centrally located in the western basin of the Prut between the rivers Ibăneasa and Jijia.

History

The first surviving documentation of the village date from the year 1400 The other districts have been documented in the following years. Borzesti 1431 Vicoleni 1432 Durneşti 1433 Călugăreni 1475 Ungureni 1560 Epureni 1590th

Ungureni took at that time already a central position as a producer of agricultural products in the former county Dorohoi, in the plane of Moldova Ibăneasa Valley. The fertile soil plays an important role in ensuring the existence of this community.

Traffic

The National Road (drum National) DN 29 is the trade route to 22 km south-west to Botosani county town and 13 km north-east town Săveni. Ungureni has a rail connection of the municipality with the city Dorohoi in the extreme north -east of Romania, close to the Moldovan and Ukrainian border links. The freight station Ungureni is the main trading center for agricultural products from the region.

Economy

About 60% of all economic activities in the municipality Ungureni is the agriculture (cereals, potatoes, vegetables, fruits and livestock ) still play an important role in ensuring the existence of this community.

The industry in Ungureni consists of two oil mills for the production of sunflower oil, a company for the manufacture of prepared feeds for farm animals and a textile factory ( clothing ) and, together with the construction industry accounted for 13%.

The trade is now a dynamic industry with around 44 companies (shops, restaurants, craft shops and services in various sizes privately owned ), the proportion affects around 27%.
