Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne

The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne ( UIPM ) ( 1968-1998 Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne et Biathlon ( UIPMB ) ) is the umbrella organization for all national sports federations for the Modern Pentathlon and Biathle ( swimming and running on medium-haul, not to be confused with biathlon ( skiing and shooting) ). It was founded on 13 August 1948 by the Swedish Olympic champion Sven Gustaf Dyrssen and Thofelt. Previously, the Modern Pentathlon was directly administered by the IOC. Initially, the UIPM was also the governing body for biathlon, after the founding of the International Biathlon Union on an extraordinary congress of the UIPMB 1993, the two associations separated formally in 1998.

The UIPM currently comprises 98 organizations. The Association is based Monaco. Acting President of the German Klaus Schormann.
