United Kennel Club

The United Kennel Club ( UKC ) is an umbrella organization for dog breeds and dog sport that originated in the United States, but now is also active in other countries. It is the largest and oldest such organization outside of FCI, KC and AKC. His law office is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

History

The UKC was founded in 1898 by Chanucy Bennet. The foundation from the need to establish a registry for American Pit Bull Terrier, as this breed was not recognized by the American Kennel Club. In the first episode, some hunting breeds from the family of coonhounds have been recognized and the list of recognized breeds with time is continuously expanding.

Breeds

Today, the UKC recognizes 439 different dog breeds. The five most frequently registered Treeing Walker Coonhound breeds, American Pit Bull Terrier, Bluetick Coonhound, Black and Tan Coonhound American and English Coonhound. Overall, the UKC registered each year by its own account about 250,000 pedigree dogs.

Activities

The UKC organizes competitions in agility, dog shows, obedience, field trials and other events.
