United Nations Security Council Resolution 452

The resolution 452 (1979) the UN Security Council is concerned with the illegality of the Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories of East Jerusalem, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights.

The resolution states that the policy of Israel to establish settlements in the occupied Arab territories is illegal and the Fourth Geneva Convention for the Protection of the civilian population disregards in times of war of 12 August 1949. It calls on the Israeli government and the Israeli people urgently to end on the establishment, construction and planning of settlements in the Arab territories, including Jerusalem.

The resolution was adopted on 20 July 1979 at the meeting of the UN Security 2159. By 14 votes to none against, with one abstention (United States).
