United States Department of the Army

The Department of the Army (Eng. about Army Office ) is one of three departments within the Ministry of Defense of the United States. Its predecessor was up to the National Defense Act of 1947, the Ministry of War.

Just like the previously existing Navy Department ( Department of the Navy ) has the Department of the Army since no cabinet rank. Both take together with the 1947 created Air Force Office ( Department of the Air Force) performs the administrative and technical tasks for the local branches of the armed forces under the umbrella of the Department of Defense.

The Department of the Army is led by the Secretary of the Army (Army Secretary of State ); this is a 21 incumbent John M. McHugh, previously Republican congressman from New York since September 21, 2009. The SECARM is civilian employee who is responsible for the administrative side of the U.S. Army, supreme commander of the military chain of command, however, is the Chief of Staff of the Army.
