The Universidad Nacional de Asunción (UNA ) is a state university in Paraguay. It is the oldest and largest university in Paraguay.

The Universidad Nacional de Asunción was founded by Act of September 24, 1889 and inaugurated on March 1, 1890. There were initially only two faculties: law, social sciences and medicine and related areas. Ramón Zubizarreta was the first rector.

Dionísio Gonzales Torres, a Colorado Tradicionalista of the wing, was Rector from 1969 to 1989.

The university maintains equipment in Asunción, Luque and San Lorenzo.

For the period from 2004 to 2009 Prof. Ing Agr was. Pedro Gerardo González Rector and Professor Arq. Amado Franco Navoni elected vice rector.

2006 the university had 35,116 students enrolled.
