The University of Dublin ( University of Dublin English, Irish Ollscoil Átha Cliath ) is a university in the Irish capital Dublin. It was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I as "The College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth near Dublin " and thus is Ireland's oldest university. The building was built by donations, the plot, and the ruins of the monastery of All Hallows, donated by the city. In the academic year 2003/04, 15,428 students were enrolled.

Unlike the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, after which it was modeled, the University of Dublin was formed and each consisting of many colleges, there is only one college in Dublin: Trinity College. Therefore, the terms " Trinity College, Dublin " and " University of Dublin " are used in practice as synonyms.
