The University of Liechtenstein is a State university ( with doctoral degrees ) with the main practice areas Architecture and Planning and Economics ( Entrepreneurship, financial services, business computer science ). It has its headquarters in Vaduz in Liechtenstein. The content focus is geared to the needs of the economy, politics and society of Liechtenstein and the neighboring region ( Alpine Rhine Valley, Lake Constance ).

History

Precursor is the Abendtechnikum Vaduz founded in 1961 on the initiative of business and government. 1988 arose from the Abendtechnikum the Liechtenstein School of Engineering (LIS ). In 1992, the LIS was recognized as a technical college. In 1997, the transformation of the LIS to the Fachhochschule Liechtenstein as a foundation under public law and in 2005 was converted to the University of Liechtenstein. In July 2008, the Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein granted permission to carry out doctoral study programs ( doctoral degrees ). On 1 September 2009, the Graduate School was opened, under whose umbrella the master's and doctoral programs have been combined.

Graduate School

The Diplomas are nationally recognized and comply with the EU directives on the mutual recognition of diplomas, certificates and other formal requirements. The architectural education is notified by the European Union and graduates of the MA Architecture thus have the authorization to practice as an architect in the Member States of the EU, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland.

Bachelor's degree programs

The bachelor's degree programs last at least six semesters (180 ECTS). Doctoral degree programs

The doctorate can be obtained in the third cycle (at least three years). Research and Development

The legal order and the international established university standards require the University of Liechtenstein to research and development ( R & D). Research and development form the second pillar of the university in addition to education and training. Under the slogan Local alignment - international embedding sees the University of Liechtenstein their primary task in the economic and social development of Liechtenstein to positively influence and successfully embed the existing research expertise in the emerging European Research Area. Research is to ensure the transfer of the latest knowledge in the teaching and practice. Research priorities are:

Knowledge and technology transfer

Research and development, and technology and knowledge transfer are part of the legal mandate of the University of Liechtenstein. They are closely related to the teaching and complement. The most recent state of knowledge and problem-solving skills are taught through projects from practice.
