University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne

The University of Reims (French Université de Reims Champagne- Ardenne, abbreviation URCA ) is a university in the city of Reims in France. The college, formerly a cathedral school, 1548, on the advice of Cardinal Charles de Lorraine - Guise of Pope Paul III. charged to the University. After they disbanded in 1793, it did not exist more than one and a half centuries, until in the 1960s a number of higher education institutions were founded in Reims, from which in 1971 the University of Reims today was born.

This now has three locations in Reims and more in Troyes, Charleville- Mézières and Chalons-en -Champagne. Due to the continuously growing since the founding regional structure it bears since 1982 in its detailed name the addition of the Champagne- Ardenne region.

In the academic year 2005, there were 21,537 enrolled at the University of Reims.
