Ursel Brunner

Ursel Mohrle Wirth -Brunner ( born January 30, 1941 in Heidelberg) is a former German swimmer.

She learned to swim at the age of four years. The freestyle swimmer until 1964 was active from the mid-fifties as a swimmer for the SV Nikar Heidelberg. Among her greatest successes include 27 German championships and two bronze medals at the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 with the 4 × 100-meter freestyle relay and the 4 × 100-meter medley relay. They also introduced in the course of their career on 99 German records in swimming. In 1963 she was voted Athlete of the Year.

Brunner was married since 1975 with her former coach Dr. Hans Wirth ( † 1988). She has a son. Professional Ursel Wirth -Brunner was in the teaching profession and worked for many years Rector of Heidelberg International Comprehensive School.

For many years, coached Wirth -Brunner fencing in the disciplines of foil and epee in a club Heidelberg United. In 2009, she founded the Fencing Club -Heidelberg 2009. The association has set itself the goal of promoting children after athletic abilities, regardless of social or ethnic origin.
