Ursicinus of Ravenna

Ursicinus of Ravenna ( † 67 ) was, according to legend, a doctor and early Christian martyrs. He is venerated as a saint.

Ursicinus worked as a physician in Ravenna. The, also from Ravenna Vitalis, who suffered as Ursicinus martyrdom is said to have attributed to him before his execution consolation. In representations of the Ursicinus you see him wearing his severed head, from which grow palm branches. Ursicinus enjoys special veneration in his hometown. The feast of Saints is the 19th of June.

Ursicinus is not to be confused with the bishop of Ravenna in the 6th century.
