Ursula Meier

Ursula Meier (* June 24 1971 in Besançon) is a French-Swiss film director, and film actress.

Career

Ursula Meier was born as the daughter of a French mother and a Swiss father and grew up in Geneva. She has three older siblings. She visited in Ferney- Voltaire thereat Lycée and then studied from 1990 to 1994 Director of the Institute des Arts de Diffusion in Belgium Ottignies -Louvain- la -Neuve. Today Meier lives in Louvain- la -Neuve district.

Career

Meier began her career in 1994 as a director of short films, including her debut À corps perdu. After four more short films that she produced between 1999 and 2003, to Meier ventured in 2008 with the film Home on her first feature film, the 2009 Swiss Film Prize in the category won Best Film and Best Screenplay (along with Antoine Jaccoud ). Although he was submitted for the 2008 European Film Awards, but was not taken into account. In February 2009, Home was nominated for three César awards, but also went away empty-handed. In mid-September 2009 Home was filed as a Swiss contribution to the 2010 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2012 she was first invited for their feature film Winter thief in the competition of the International Film Festival of Berlin, where she was honored for her social drama with a special prize and be honored with a Silver Bear. This film was submitted as an official part of Switzerland for the 2013 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and won in the same year three Swiss Film Awards (film, screenplay, lead actor - Kacey Mottet Klein). In the same year she was appointed to the jury of the 69th International Film Festival of Venice.

Besides her work as a director Meier had been in three films as an actress with, including stupid in the coming- of-age drama film Garçon 2004.
