The USS Chung- Hoon (DDG -93 ) is a destroyer in the United States Navy and is one of the Arleigh Burke - class. The warship is named after Rear Admiral Gordon Pai'ea Chung -Hoon (1910-1979), a recipient of the Navy Cross.

History

The Chung- Hoon was given in 1998 in order and placed in early 2002 at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Kiel. After a construction period of less than 12 months, the destroyer was launched from the dock. In September 2004, was officially commissioned into the United States Navy. Shortly before the Chung- Hoon was damaged by a tractor when he tried to fasten at the front starboard side of the destroyer. After the commissioning followed by trial runs and as of February 2005, a three-month overhaul.

On 13 October 2005, the Chung- Hoon received about 400 miles northeast of Hawaii a distress call from the vessel under the Panamanian flag freighter C- Laurel, on the one crew member had been torn off in an accident a hand. The Chung- Hoon brought the sailor to Honolulu, where he was operated.

In early 2006, moved the Chung- Hoon to their first use, and participated in the exercise RIMPAC. 2007 was the ship for seven and a half months at the side of the USS Bonhomme Richard ( LHD -6) in the Persian Gulf. In 2008, the destroyer took part in the RIMPAC maneuvers. In January 2009, the Chung- Hoon laid out with the battle group led by the USS Boxer ( LHD -4) in the Western Pacific and the Persian Gulf. During this trip, the Chung- Hoon was assigned to Impeccable (T- AGOS -23) to escort the unarmed ocean surveillance ship USNS after this had been harassed before Hainan of Chinese warships. In June, the Chung- Hoon then in exercises with the Malaysian Navy took part.

In July 2010, the destroyer participated in the USS George Washington ( CVN -73) page along with South Korean forces in the exercise Invincible Spirit part. In June 2011, the Chung Hoon began a drive use in the western Pacific.
