The USS Milwaukee ( LCS- 5) is a Littoral Combat Ship the United States Navy and is a member of the Freedom class. It is named after the city of Milwaukee in Wisconsin.

History

The contract for the construction of Milwaukee, was awarded on December 29, 2010 at Marinette Marine in Marinette, Wisconsin. On 27 October 2011 the keel laying took place, the ship was launched on December 18, 2013 from the stack. It is the sixth ship which bears the name of Milwaukee. 30 changes were made to the previous ship USS Fort Worth again, the lead ship USS Freedom 100 An improvement is the new drive, which reached higher speeds.
