The USS Reprisal (CV -35 ) was a planned but never finished aircraft carrier of the Essex class, the United States Navy.

History

The Reprisal ( to German: retaliation ) was placed in Brooklyn on Kiel on 1 July 1944 at New York Naval Shipyard. The construction of the ship was set with the looming end of the Second World War, on 12 August 1945. The completed to 52 percent body was left in 1946 without ceremony to water to clear the slipway of the yard. In the aftermath of the half-finished hull in the Chesapeake Bay was used for weapons and explosives tests. In the summer of 1949, plans to complete the ship nevertheless, rejected and sold the hull on 2 August 1949, the Boston Metals Corporation in Baltimore for scrapping. Scrapping was completed in November 1949.
