The USS Thomas Jefferson (SSBN-618) was a nuclear submarine of the Ethan Allen class of the United States Navy. It was named after Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States, named.

History

SSBN -618 was commissioned in 1960 and established in early 1961 at Newport News Shipbuilding in Kiel. After a construction period of only a little over a year the unit was launched and christened by the wife of Robert S. McNamara. Beginning of 1963, the Jefferson was put into service.
