The USS Wayne E. Meyer ( DDG -108 ) is a destroyer in the United States Navy and is one of the Arleigh Burke - class. It is named after Rear Admiral Wayne E. Meyer. He is regarded as the father of the Aegis combat system. DDG -108 carries the 100th Aegis delivered.
History
DDG -108 was commissioned in 2002. In 2007, Bath Iron Works, the ship on deck. On 18 October 2008, the ship, christened the presence Meyers. Godmother was Meyer's wife, Anna Mae. A day later ran the USS Wayne E. Meyer of the stack. A year later, on October 10, 2009, the Wayne E. Meyer was placed in service in Philadelphia.
The end of 2011 began the first use of the ride Wayne E. Meyer: On the USS John C. Stennis page (CVN -74 ) led them to the destroyer in the Indian Ocean and the beginning of 2012 in the Pacific.
