The USS William P. Lawrence ( DDG- 110) is a destroyer in the United States Navy and is one of the Arleigh Burke - class. It is named after Vice Admiral William P. Lawrence.
History
DDG -110 was commissioned in 2002. 2008 Ingalls Shipbuilding laid the keel of ship. After 14 months of construction, on 15 December 2009, the William P. Lawrence was left off the stack. The naming ceremony took place on April 17, 2010, godmothers were Lawrence's widow, Diane, and his daughters Laurie and Wendy. The U.S. Navy accepted On 23 February 2011 the delivery of the Destroyer after he had successfully performed the test drives.
After her commissioning on June 4, 2011 in Mobile, William P. Lawrence was stationed in San Diego.
