Utena

Listen Utena / i? ( German: Utenen, Polish Uciana ) is a Rajongemeinde and their core city in northeastern Lithuania. The city is in the municipality of its own municipal office ( miesto seniūnija ) and is the administrative seat of the district of Utena. The city has about 33,000 inhabitants, the municipality 48,000.

Economy and Transport

Utena is located close to the borders with Latvia and Belarus on the highway Warsaw ( Poland) -Kaunas - Daugavpils (Latvia ) Saint Petersburg ( Russia) and is home to a nationally significant brewery called " Utenos ".

Estates

About 7 kilometers northwest of the town is the park " Vyžuonėlių ", which was declared in 1958 the Lithuanian natural monument. In it is the studio house painter Werefkin. It belongs to a also still preserved ensemble of ornate wooden houses that were built in the typical folkloristic style of Abramtsevo. They were once the center of the estate of Werefkin family.
