Utö, Sweden

Uto [ ʉ ː tø ː ] is one of the main islands in the southern Stockholm archipelago and is located in the municipality of Haninge. Uto referred simultaneously also located on the island of place.

The island is ten kilometers long and up to three and a half miles wide and has a total of about 230 residents. Uto is a tourist's main objective in the region with approximately 300,000 visitors annually and is also known for its medieval iron mine. In the south of the island is a military training facility.

The island is from the Stockholm suburb of Årsta Havsbad with the regular ferry boat to reach (35-40 minutes in summer and 50-55 minutes in winter ). In summer there is also the Strömkajen in the city center of Stockholm compounds (3,5 hours). Written as a UTO in the 14th century, the name refers to the main island of the parish and its position farthest out to sea.
