Václav Karel Holan Rovenský

Václav Karel Holan Rovenský (* 1644 in Rovensko pod Troskami, † February 27, 1718 at Castle Wallenstein at Sedmihorek ) was a Czech composer.

Holan probably attended the Jesuit school in Jičín. He worked then as an organist and conductor in Rovensko, The exposition of Dobrovice. In 1674 he traveled to Rome to participate in the procession to the increased opening of the Jubilee.

1680 was Holan organist and conductor at the Prague Vyšehrad. Here is a John and St. Matthew Passion ( 1690 and 1692 ) and a Kantional emerged ( Capella Regia Musicalis, 1693-94 ) with several hundred melodies.

1694 to Holan withdrew as a hermit in the ruins of the castle Wallenstein, where he died in 1718.
