Vadim Tokarev

Vadim Alexandrovich Tokarev (Russian Вадим Александрович Токарев; * February 29, 1972 in Kazan ) is a Russian boxer.

Professional career

The former kickboxer Tokarev was established in 2000 at the age of 28 already years in Russia professional cruiserweight and ran until 2005, despite victories over the former IBF world champion Arthur Williams, Amateur champion Michael Simms and only once defeated hard-hitting Darnell Wilson, against whom he each round won, only little attention. Against the then still not very prestigious Firat Arslan succeeded him in Germany only a draw.

The lack of interest changed dramatically in 2006 by its spectacular appearance in the U.S. against the unbeaten and highly assessed Americans Felix Cora. He not only created a knockout win, but boxed as unleashed and wowed the critics. After this victory, he was among the absolute world top of the weight class. And he laid immediately after: The American Shane Swartz, who had recently defeated the world-class opponents Dale Brown, was by him by Ko beaten in just two rounds.

He was nominated by the IBF eliminator for the Association Subsequently, in which he ran against Marco Huck. He lost to Huck on 26 May 2007 on points after twelve rounds ( 114:114, 117:110, 117:110 ).
