Firat Arslan

Fırat Arslan ( born September 28, 1970 in Friedberg ) is a German boxer of Turkish descent and former WBA cruiserweight champion.

Career

Fırat Arslan began at the age of 18 years with the boxes. In 1994 he participated in the German citizenship. His professional debut was in January 1997 in Stuttgart. By 2005, he trained without a personal trainer and by 2007 even without management.

He won his first thirteen fights, but lost in 2000 against the Zimbabweans Collice Mutizwa. Mutizwa had been able to win more than one at this point of his four professional fights. In Arslan's next fight on May 19, 2001, he boxed against Rüdiger May at the German Championship. Also in this encounter he lost on points.

In 2003 he managed a draw against the then undefeated Russian Vadim Tokarev, of him doing the jaw broke. A little later Arslan, however, had in Prague, weakened by a disease suffered against the Czechs Luboš Suda his third defeat.

In March 2004, he won the vacant German championship title by a premature victory over Marco Heinichen, in July of the same year he secured the European title.

Only in the year 2005, he coached the first time with a personal trainer. The boxer Luan Krasniqi, with whom he previously coached together, he established a friendship. 24 November 2007 Arslan defeated the multiple world champion and former titlist Virgil Hill from the United States before 4500 spectators in the sold-out Freiberger Arena in Dresden by unanimous decision ( 118:110, 116:113, 117:111 ) and was thus a regular WBA world cruiserweight champion. On 3 May 2008, he defended his title against American Darnell Wilson in Stuttgart. This fight he also won by unanimous decision ( 117:111, 117:111, 117:111 ).

His second mandatory defense in the cruiserweight division on September 27, 2008 in Hamburg against Guillermo Jones ended with the defeat of Arslan by TKO in the tenth round. Arslan already had to put at the beginning of the fight numerous blows that did not remain without effect, despite the double coverage. Since Arslan was ravaged, the referee stopped the fight.

Due to a bicycle accident in June 2009 Firat made ​​a nearly one-year lull.

On July 3, 2010, he boxed in Stuttgart for the interim WBA World Championship against Frenchman Steve Herelius, but lost at the end of the penultimate lap, when he suffered a circulatory collapse due to the prevailing temperatures in the hall of some 40 degrees. Until then, he had terms of points clearly in the lead and has already brought his opponent to the edge of a precipitate. Just one day later, he was discharged from the hospital.

On 1 April 2011 in Berlin Arslan won by TKO against Michal Bilak. On 15 July 2011 Arslan won in the EWS Arena in Göppingen his second fight against Lubos Suda by TKO in the fifth round. Arslan secured by winning the IBF International Championship. He played for his former promoter Universum Box-Promotion on January 28, 2012 at the Grand Elysée Hamburg his next fight against Orlando Antonio Farias, he was able to win by TKO in the second round.

On May 11, 2012, he boxed in Göppingen against the EBU European champion and former world amateur champion Alexander Alexeev. The fight ended in a draw.

On November 3, 2012 Arslan boxed in Hall against the reigning WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck. Although Arslan scored the bout designed and more significant results, Huck won the fight by unanimous decision of a very controversial point rating ( 115:113, 115:113, 117:111 ). In the rematch on January 25, 2014 he was defeated in the 6th round by TKO.
