History

At the site of the present ice rink in the early 20th century the open field for the 1921 founded HC Davos was created. The field was then marked by only about 10 cm high wooden belt, the audience sat directly behind it.

When the HCD 1979 again rose to the National League A, a canopy of the stadium was discussed again, as the hockey club would otherwise have to descend again. A requirement of the project was to use the existing piers on. On these refined support structure in glued laminated timber was placed and so formed the dome.

The capacity of the stadium is no longer 7680 according to the latest conversions but only 7,080 spectators. Shortly before the Spengler Cup 2006, a new video cube was installed. At the same inputs or exits the East Stand and West Stand have been extended. Provisionally the seat additions the south stand were isolated from the inputs to the standing area.

On 1 January 2007 the ice rink in Vaillant Arena was renamed as the natural ice rink still bears the name of Davos Ice Stadium. Vaillant, a manufacturer of heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology, bought the naming rights for CHF 3 million, thereby securing the much-needed renovation of the South Stand.
