Väinö Penttala

Väinö Verner Penttala ( born January 16, 1897 in Isokyrö as Väinö Verner Vaissalo, † February 28, 1976 ) was a Finnish wrestler and silver medalist at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp.

Penttala was a member of the Association Kyrön Voima in his hometown Isokyrö in the landscape Ostrobothnia. In 1920 he was allowed to travel to the Olympic Games in Antwerp for Finland. In freestyle, he attended the tournament in the class up to 75 kg ( middleweight) part. Penttala had to just end his compatriot - at that time were allowed in wrestling, two athletes per nation start - Eino Leino Augusti, who lived in the United States, to admit defeat.

1923 first time in Finland Championships held in freestyle wrestling. Pentalla won in these styles to 1927 title four times.
