Valentin Eduard Becker

Valentin Eduard Becker ( born November 20, 1814 Würzburg, † January 25, 1890 ) was a German composer and City Treasurer.

On April 15, 1847, he founded with 45 singers the Würzburg singers club, which was named after him in 2005.

In 1861 he set to music the text of the Franks song by Joseph Victor von Scheffel.

Honors

In his honor, awarded the city Brückenau since 1953, every three years the Valentin Becker Prize. His hometown Würzburg honors its citizens with a monument in the ring and park named after him Valentin -Becker Street.
