Valentin Gregor

Valentin Gregor ( born May 13, 1963 in Bonn ) is a German jazz violinist and composer.

Career

Valentin Gregor is the son of folk song researcher Josef Gregor. He began the year with seven lessons on the violin; by a meeting in 1988 with his future teacher Hajo Hoffmann his interest was aroused in jazz. Gregor studied from 1988 to 1992 jazz violin at the Musikhochschule in Cologne and was the 1995-1997 scholarship from the Berklee College of Music in Boston / USA. During his two-year stay in the U.S., he has performed among others with Stéphane Grappelli, Herb Geller, Ed Harris, Garrison Fewell, Duduka da Fonseca, Hans Glawischnig and Nicolas Simion. Since his return to Germany, he worked both as a solo violinist and as a musical director in various theater productions and band. His engagements include the Cirque du Soleil, the German Schauspielhaus, Hamburg, the Maxim Gorki Theater, Berlin, the German Theater, Berlin, the German Schauspielhaus Hannover and Hans -Peter Wodarz dinner show Pomp Duck and Circumstance.

Gregory played as Soloviolonist inter alia for the band Calexico and the Electric Light band ( with Phil Bates, singer of ElectricLightOchestra Part 2, ELO Part II). He also starred in Carlos Bica Quintet DIZ. Since 1983 he also occurs irregularly with the a cappella group Echo Echo, since 1999 under the name Meier & vultures with the actor Hans -Werner Meyer.
