Valeriy Sokolov

Valery Sokolov (Ukrainian Валерій Соколов, in English letters Valeriy Sokolov, born September 22, 1986 in Kharkiv, Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian violinist.

Life

At age five he began to play the violin and gave the age of eleven his first appearance with the 5th concert of Henri Vieuxtemps and when adding a sonata by Eugène Ysaÿe. He got 1999 International Sarasate Competition a scholarship to the Yehudi Menuhin School in England. He won the 2005 International George Enescu Prize. Then he came in master classes with Mstislav Rostropovich, Zvi Zeitlin and Dora Schwarzenberg. He took as the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad part.

About Sokolow there is a produced by Bruno Monsaingeon film from 2006 entitled " The Violinist of the soul".
