Valpolicella

Valpolicella ( Venetic: Valpolexela ) is the name of an Italian wine region (Veneto ) in the Lessini hills north of Verona, east of Lake Garda. Valpolicella DOC wines are produced in three defined areas, all of which lie between the river Adige ( Adige) and the Lessini. These are the areas ( from west to east):

  • Valpolicella Classica includes the valleys of Fumane, Marano and Negrar
  • Valpolicella Valpantena extends over 12 km parallel to the Valpolicella Classica area and extends into the suburbs of Verona
  • Valpolicella, includes valleys Squaranto, mezzane, Illasi, Tramigna and Alpone and also districts of Verona

The grown wines are usually mild and should be drunk young. However, they can be expanded as a Riserva, then they reach a considerable wealth of flavor. Furthermore, high-quality Amarone, Valpolicella Ripasso and the sweet Recioto are generated.
