Valtra

Valtra [ ʋɑltrɑ ] is a Finnish brand of tractor, which has a particularly robust tractors for agriculture and forestry.

Manufacturing facilities are in Suolahti, Finland, and Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil (east of São Paulo). Valtra is a worldwide brand of AGCO Corporation, the world's third largest manufacturer of agricultural equipment.

History

The late forties of the last century the government cannon factory began in Finland Valtion Tykkitehtaat with the development of a tractor. In 1951 the name valtion METallitehtaat was renamed Valmet. In 1979 one tractor production by Volvo. 1994 Valmet tractor factory was incorporated into the Sisu Group. 1997 Sisu was in turn merged with the Partek Group and Sisu Tractors was renamed Valtra Oy.

Today Valtra is the market leader in the Nordic countries. Since autumn 2003 Valtra is part of the AGCO Corporation. In 2004, Valtra with nearly 2,000 employees generated sales of 870 million euros. Total production in Finland and Brazil amounted to 19,500 tractors.
