AGCO is a global manufacturer of agricultural machinery, headquartered in Duluth ( Georgia), USA. The European headquarters of the company AGCO is since August 2007 in Schaffhausen / Neuhausen, Switzerland.

History

The company was formed in 1990, when executives of Deutz -Allis North American operations of Klöckner- Humboldt -Deutz with the agricultural machinery brand Deutz-Fahr acquired ( management buy -out). It was then renamed Allis- Gleaner Corporation, AGCO shortly. Gleaner was the brand for combine harvesters, while the product line of tractors AGCO Tractors means.

AGCO is the world's third largest manufacturer of agricultural machinery. The Group owns 15 production sites, are three in the USA and Mexico, three in South America and eighth in Europe. On the Fortune 500 list of largest U.S. companies for 2006 AGCO took place 421 and 2007 space 359

AGCO generated a turnover of six billion U.S. dollars in 2007. The ongoing since 2008 economic crisis did not affect the Group 's operating profit increased from 67 to 400 million U.S. dollars. The Group's management announced its intention to increase its sales in the next five years to eight billion U.S. dollars, which would be based on the conversion in 2007, an increase of one-fifth.
