Van Chancellor

Van Chancellor ( born September 27, 1943 in Louisville, Mississippi ) is, since April 11, 2007 coach of the women's basketball team at Louisiana State University.

Van Chancellor was from 1978 to 1997 Head Women's Coach at the University of Mississippi. He then moved to the newly formed WNBA Houston Comets to where he worked as a trainer until 2007. There he led his team to four consecutive titles at once. During his time with the Houston Comets, he was able to record a total of 211 victories and is the most successful coach in the history of the WNBA. Since April 2007 he has been coach of the women's team Louisiana State University with which he was able to move right into the Final Four in his first season.

In 2002, he coached the U.S. women's national team. At the World Championships in China, he could lead the team to win the World Cup. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, he oversaw the national team again the women who was able to get the gold medal.

Van Chancellor is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball 2007 Hall of Fame since September.
