VariCAD

VariCAD is a 2D/3D CAD program that was designed primarily for mechanical engineering. The program allows the two-dimensional drawings and three-dimensional solid models, so-called solids, are created. VariCAD supports parameters, geometric constraints and assembly structures, and attributes with automatic BOM generation. The system also offers design tools, such as for body shell, piping, sheet metal flat patterns, collision analysis, etc.

The range includes a standard parts catalog with screws, nuts, bearings and much more. It also offers integrated calculation modules for example, springs, bending and torsion of beams, also volume, mass and center of gravity calculations.

With VariCAD 2D data from external systems into the formats DXF and DWG format can be read and stored, IGES data can be exported in 3D format. Support for industry- standard format for product data exchange STEP allows data exchange with all major 3D CAD systems. The output of the 3D data in STL format enables direct physical prototyping with stereolithography technology.

VariCAD is available for the operating systems Windows, and Linux, supports Unicode and therefore additional languages such as Japanese, Russian or Chinese.

With the free and free VariCAD Viewer, there is a proprietary CAD viewer that is built on the same core geometry as VariCAD and therefore in addition to 2D and 3D Format VariCAD own, the 2D formats DXF, DWG, and 3D STEP format can represent. Besides the graphical representation of these formats can be analyzed with the viewer geometries and sized 3D elements output as high-resolution graphics file, printed 2D data and plotted and stored in all of VariCAD supported formats and convert it.
