Varicellovirus

Genus Varicellovirus virus comprises a plurality of virus strains of the family Herpesviridae, which occur in mammals. They are phylogenetically closely related within the subfamily Alphaherpesvirinae and strictly adapted to their host. In contrast to the genus simplex virus, the Varicelloviren proliferate in cell culture only in host-specific cell types only a few species. The name is derived from the type species of the genus, the human varicella- zoster virus. The proliferation of Varicelloviren takes place in epithelial cells and they all persist in nervous tissue of their respective host. Typical of Varicelloviren is their ability to spread throughout the body, which can lead to exanthemischen diseases of the skin, mucous membranes and internal organs infections.
