Vasco SC

The Vasco Sports Club is a football club from Vasco da Gama, with around 100,000 inhabitants, the largest city in the western Indian state of Goa. The association founded in 1951 as Clube de Desportos de Vasco da Gama increased at the end of the season 2007/ 08 for the second time in the top division of India, the I-League Division 1 on,

The association calls the Tilak Maidan Stadium - his own, which holds around 15,000 spectators. Later it was extended to a clubhouse. League games wearing the Vasco SC but in the 35,000 -seater from Fatorda Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium in the nearby city of Margao, where the local rivals Sporting Clube de Goa, a branch of the Portuguese Sporting Clube de Portugal, in Germany better known as Sporting Lisbon plays.

History

In 1998, the club qualified for the Goa Professional League and got to the end of the season 1999/ 00 the first time in the first league. There Vasco held five years before he descended again. In each case, a third place in 2003 and 2004 were the best placements. However, after the resurgence of the 2007/08 League 1 could not be maintained and it rose as a Table with 19 points from 22 games again.
