Vaucluse

The department of Vaucluse [ vokly ː z] is a French department of order number 84 It is in the southeast of the country in the region Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur and was after the town (now Fontaine -de- Vaucluse) named.

Geography

The department of Vaucluse bordered by the departments of Gard, Ardèche, Drôme, Alpes -de -Haute- Provence, Bouches -du -Rhône, as well as a few hundred meters to the Var. The most important river is the Rhone, which marks the western border of the department. The Durance forms the southern boundary of the department, it opens at Avignon in the Rhône.

The highest point is 1,912 m Mont Ventoux. The Luberon Mountains in the south of the department reached the peak of Mourre Nègre a height of 1,125 m.
