Vazha Tarkhnishvili

Wascha Tarchnischwili (Georgian ვაჟა თარხნიშვილი; Russian Важа Тархнишвили; born August 25, 1971 in Gori, Georgian SSR ) is a retired Georgian footballer who works as a sports director for Sheriff Tiraspol since 2012.

Life and career

Wascha Tarchnischwili was born in 1971 in Gori. After seasons at smaller clubs including the big club Dila Gori became aware of him, who committed him in 1991. Until 1998, he completed a total of 211 league games for Dila, in which the defender also scored four goals. In 1998 he had under coach Vladimir Guzajew his debut in the Georgian national team, however, to their line-up he was only a total of two times.

After Tarchnischwili then briefly played with locomotive Tbilisi, he moved in 1999 to Sheriff Tiraspol Transnistria in the Moldovan football league. For the Tiraspol he then stood well over a decade on the court until he finally ended his active career in 2012. For Sheriff Tarchnischwili ran in 520 league games on (29 goals), winning 11 Moldovan league titles, seven times the Moldovan Football Cup. At international level, he was able to record with Sheriff some success, such as winning the CIS Cup in 2003 and 2009. Tarchnischwili 2012 ended his career as an active player. Since then, he's sporting director at Sheriff Tiraspol.

Tarchnischwili is also Moldovan citizens.
