The Wasusa (Russian Вазуза ) is a 162 km long right tributary of the Volga River in the European part of Russia.
Course
The Wasusa springs near the village Drobyschi in the northern part of the Smolensk heights in the northeast of Smolensk Oblast. From there it flows north through the woods and fields shaped by landscape.
About half of its flow path reaches the Wasusa the small town Sytschowka. A little later, the backlog of Wasusastausees begins (Russian Вазузское водохранилище ) ( ⊙ 56.15052234.534639 ). The river is dammed up to 77 km to a reservoir of approximately 97 sq km area here. The reservoir extends into the southern Tver Oblast.
About 2 km southwest of the city Subzow ends of the reservoir. In Subzow the Wasusa finally flows into the Volga. The river and the reservoir are very popular as a destination.
The average Wasusa is from November to April, frozen.
