VEB Robotron

The VEB Kombinat Robotron was a combine in the field of the Ministry of Electrical Engineering and Electronics of the GDR. The word " Robotron " is a portmanteau composed of the word robot parts and electronics.

The writing under registered number DD641673 to deletion on 20 December 2002 was robotron a registered trademark of the Combine Robotron. The successor company BuS Electronics Riesa and Robotron Datenbank Software Dresden secured the word mark rights to the logo in different spellings, where in 2012 the brand of the company Riesaer was deleted. The word - figurative trade mark " robotron ®" is a registered trademark of Robotron education and consulting center of Leipzig.

History

Precursor of the Combine Robotron was formed in 1958 VVB office equipment, which was renamed in 1964 VVB data processing and office equipment. As part of this cooperation Association of mainframe Robotron 300 was produced, its development from VEB Electronic calculating machines from Karl -Marx- Stadt (now Chemnitz) started and was manufactured by VEB Rafena Radeberg. From the VVB DuB were under the New Economic System of Planning and Management, centrally initiated the industrial restructuring of the GDR, formed the Kombinat Robotron and the Combine Zentronik on 1 April 1969. As parent company of Robotron and seat of the combine line first, the television station Rafena was used in Radeberg. The early 1970s was in Dresden the new Robotron - terrain Pirnaischer place at the Leningrad (today St. Petersburg street ), between Pirnaischer Place and George Square opposite the Neues Rathaus completed. In addition, the construction of a new production plant on the ground Straße in Dresden- Gruna and new buildings were added to the field offices in Riesa, Karl- Marx-Stadt and Hoyerswerda. There were typewriters, printers and plotters as well as measuring, radio relay and communications technology. The scope also included the development and production of equipment for the production and for the testing of electronic components and devices, as well as the production of a range of consumer electronics products such as home or small computer (Z 9001, KC 85/1, KC 87 ), selected radio and portable televisions.

Furthermore, developed and manufactured Robotron and military electronic systems for the domestic and international market, including automatic chemical agent detector devices and the radiation measurement system KSMG1.

In the 1980s, Robotron obtained also for the West German market significance by peripherals such as printers have been delivered for home computers. These were available, for example under the name of President ( Federal Republic of Germany ) and Samelco (USA). Also, much of the typewriters were sold in the West, mostly on mail-order company. The Kombinat Robotron maintained cooperative relations with the state combines microelectronics Erfurt, Carl Zeiss Jena, radio and television technology Staßfurt and the Central Institute of Cybernetics and Information Processes of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR and the section of computer science at the TU Dresden.

The 1990 required by the Monetary, Economic and Social Union transformation process to adapt to the market conditions in the industry led to major changes.
