Veit Helmer
Veit Helmer ( born April 24, 1968 in Hannover ) is a German film director and film producer.
Life
Veit Helmer was born on 24 April 1968 in Hannover. His first cinematic attempts at walking launched Helmer age 14.
After graduation, he began training as a manager at the NDR. 1988 Helmer turned his first short film on 35mm ( "Tour d' Amour " ) with Dominique Horwitz and Beate Jensen. Before the Fall of the Wall ( September 1989 ), he began studying theater directing in GDR at the Academy of Dramatic Arts " Ernst Busch" Berlin. There, the short film "The Robbers " was born. Veit Helmer joined in 1991 at the University of Television and Film Munich. Already at this time he was co - director, co - writer and producer Wim Wenders' film A Trick of Light (1996). He became known through numerous short films, such as Surprise!, The Window Cleaner and Tour Eiffel (70 mm). Many of his films were made in cooperation with students of film schools from Tbilisi, Almaty, Uzbekistan, Baku and Indonesia. The plot of his films is often burlesque, in the stylistic implementation characterized by a only sparing use of dialogue (which is also the use of actors with different native languages side by side makes it easier ), all at high significance of the facial expressions.
Since August 2002, Helmer is a member of the European Film Academy. He teaches at various film schools, including in Beirut, Tbilisi, Djakarta, Tashkent and Bogota. Helmer lives in Berlin and Buckow ( Märkische Switzerland ).
