Veldenz lion

The Veldenzer lion is a modified emblem in heraldry.

As a common figure in the coat of arms lion has a fixed appearance in the coat of arms.

The description is: in a silver blue rising ( heraldic right sighted ), langued Lion, rotbewehrt ( and goldbekrönt ).

As a representative of the county Veldenz this lion has sought in many arms of the region 's place. For this and the Palatinate Palatinate Lion is dominant.

History

In 1444 was made after the death of Frederick III. of the county Veldenz Veldenz to the Count Palatine of Pfalz- Zweibrücken. They took with the county Veldenz the title of Count of Veldenz and resulted in 1720 in the central shield of Pfalz- Zweibrücken coat of arms the lion Veldenzer in winning run in the white box.

1799 came Palatinate - Bavaria to the Palatinate - Zweibrücken Crown Prince Maximilian. The crowned lion Veldenzer was taken over by his son, King Ludwig I in the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1835. The lion remained in this coat of arms until the end of World War I and the abdication of King Ludwig III. in the wake of the November Revolution.
