Velipoja ( Albanian: Velipojë ) is a village about 23 kilometers south ( straight line ) away from Shkodra in northern Albania. It is located on the Drin Golf on the Adriatic coast close to the border with Montenegro, which is formed here by the river Buna. The place is surrounded by many lakes and waters. The region is also a nature reserve of around 300 hectares, which is partially protected by the Ramsar Convention.
